Attorney-General

The Hon Robert McClelland MP is federal Attorney-General in the Rudd Labor Government and member for Barton (NSW).

Robert McClelland was elected to Federal Parliament in 1996, and became the Shadow Attorney-General in 1998. He has served as a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters and the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Privileges.

Robert McClelland has held positions as Shadow Minister for Justice and Community Security, Shadow Minister for Homeland Security, Shadow Minister for Defence and Homeland Security, Shadow Minister for Defence and Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Prior to his election to Federal Parliament, Robert McClelland worked as an associate to Justice Philip Evatt of the Federal Court of Australia and as a solicitor with Turner Freeman Solicitors. He became partner in 1988, specialising in litigation including industrial and sporting law.
