Hon Simon Crean

 

 

Hon Simon Crean (Chair) currently serves as a Deputy Chancellor of Monash University, Australia’s largest university. He is a member of the Board of Linfox International Group and the Advisory Board of the National Drought and North Queensland Flood Response and Recovery Agency. He has previously served on the boards of Qantas Airways, the Australian Industry Development Corporation, and as Chair of the Australian Live Exporters Council.

 

Mr Crean had a distinguished career in Australian Parliament, serving as a Member of the House of Representatives for 23 years between 1990 and 2013.  He served as Leader of the Australian Labor Party and Leader of the Opposition; and as a Cabinet Minister in a range of senior roles including Minister for Trade; Minister for Employment, Education and Training; Minister for Science and Technology; and Minister for Primary Industries and Energy, among others.

 

Mr Crean also served in leadership roles for over 20 years in the trade union movement, including as President of the Australian Council of Trades Union (ACTU) from 1985 to 1990. During this time, he served on many national and international governing and advisory bodies.

 

Crean
